Syllabus

In this course, students will explore, review, and master key concepts from the 5th-grade math curriculum. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, place value, rounding, decimals, fractions, fraction operations, the order of operations, number patterns, numerical expressions, and powers of 10.

Each class will begin with a discussion on the week’s topic, allowing the teacher to assess students’ prior knowledge and tailor the lesson accordingly.

The lesson will follow a gradual release of responsibility instructional method, ensuring an engaging and structured learning experience. The teacher will first introduce and explain the concept, then collaborate with students to solve problems step by step, and finally encourage them to apply their knowledge independently, with support as needed. Every session will include direct instruction, hands-on practice, and real-world application through word problems.

After class, students will have access to optional homework and review materials.
